The Friendly Dolphin is the most traditional restaurant in Puerto Peñasco (Rocky Point), Mexico.

The Friendly Dolphin represents a dream come true for Gaston Rochin and his family. Gaston Rochin, who is originally a lawyer, was a fan of high quality cooking and finally realized his dream when he selected a great variety of family favorite recipes and established a small and rustic place.

The Friendly Dolphin started with success and Gaston, with the help of his wife (Lourdes) and an architect, planned the restaurant he wanted and slowly started working on it. The walls and ceiling were built by gradually and carefully mixing architectonical details that are symbolic of authentic and elegant Mexican architecture. The walls were decorated with a collection of original pictures and items that reflect the life and scenes of the Mexican Revolution of 1910. Also, a collection of celebrities such as movie stars, writers, poets and politicians were added in honor to represent the type of personalities who visited the Friendly Dolphin. A collection of items such as crosses and statues were more recently added to compliment the decoration of the restaurant. All these specific features make the Friendly Dolphin not only a restaurant but also a museum.

Success keeps flowing because many of the recipes are house specialties and cannot be found anywhere else in the world because of the restaurant’s bohemian soul and occasional live mariachi music. The Rochin’s along with the waiters welcome you with open arms and provide you with a fun, friendly, and familiar atmosphere that makes you feel like you are at home.

The party started 20 years ago and is still going, so what are you waiting for? Come join us because you are always welcome at the Friendly Dolphin.
